1. Boston. There are so very many students there, the town is hopping, and the public transit system is outstanding. You can get anywhere from anywhere on the T. And the town is eminently walkable. Boston has the largest number of university students anywhere in the US. Being a student there is really something.

2. New York City. Their subway system is extensive, the city is the hub of the world, and there are lots of universities to chose from.

3. Chicago. The EL goes most everywhere, there are lots of universities, and it's a funky bad-a** town in which to be a student.

Gainesville, Florida is another that someone mentioned. That's not as good re: transit. There are lots of busses, but not all the bus lines go everywhere, and the town is so huge that things really aren't walkable. Still, if you live near the University, then the bus system in that area of town is extensive. Lots of students. Nice night life.

I'd suggest looking at UMass Amherst, Smith, Mt. Holyoke, or Hampshire College. These five colleges are in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts. There are free busses connecting the schools, the towns are really walkable, there's a heck of a student scene, and a really funky night life. A wonderful place to go to school.

the 1st theory that got here to my recommendations upon interpreting this submit replaced right into a million. WHY is college training value is usa ridiculously costly? WHY do colleges choose a lot money? a school isn't a business employer like Apple or Microsoft. My sister will graduate from her 4 years of faculty quickly and the finished coast of training pee paid in the time of those 4 years....is OMG too a lot. the quantity is almost as a lot because of the fact the U.S. national debt. 2. do colleges particularly need greater than a number of money? 3. usa is at the instant dealing with an economic disaster; this is expected to be between the worst ever in U.S. historic past. So unemployment is a increasing situation, the economic gadget is getting spoiled and there are greater harmless voters suffering under the poverty line. and that i'm no longer against the government however the federal government would not look sorting it out nicely. i do no longer understand that a lot with reference to the ecnonomy, so I found out from my sister (she's a business employer / economics substantial) and that i will tell that the rustic, the economic gadget and so forth are all dealing with a disaster. Soo....i do no longer understand yet except the government supplies you to love help the undesirable pay for faculty or something I strongly advise that schools do no longer improve training costs. otherwise...usa will face a good worse academic disaster. Does the stuff I typed make experience? desire it does. And......the sturdy information is that the costly training value paid to a great college replaced into relatively nicely worth it because of the fact my sister have been given a great interest 2 weeks until eventually now commencement.

New York! Of course their public transportation can get you anywhere. There's plenty of schools to choose from and of course something for everyone to do.

I'd also like to at ATLANTA to the list. I was born an raised in Atlanta and now i am a college student there. The public transportation is ok as long as you are in the city but once you leave the city for the subarbs its virtually non existant. But Atlanta has so many opportunities socially and academically. We also have plenty of schools to choose from.

No city in the world has a transit system like NYC. Great colleges too. Try NYU.

Boston, MA. The transit system is one of the oldest in the country, but is beautifully maintained. It runs everywhere, on four separate lines that interconnect. When I was a student in Boston, there wasn't a place in town I couldnt' easily get to by walking outside of my door.

Both San Francisco and New York have good subways that get you out to the more affordable living areas (sort of) and New York has the best culture but San Francisco has better weather (less snow)

How come nobody mentions the west coast?

Seattle, Portland, San Francisco all have good schools, good mass transit, and are great cities, and are great places to live, study, and work.

Where are you now?
