Depends where you live and what your activities are. I would consider first covering for these basic expenses and then worry about the rest:
1) Rent
2) Food
3) Transportation
After you have covered for all these, you should be able to ball-park how much you have to make and start adding stuff like entertainment, beer, etc.

You will need a security deposit of at least $500. You may need first and last month's rent - maybe another $1000 (depends on your area). You will need something to sleep on, deposits for utilities, money for utilities bills, rent, food, laundry, gas, car maintenance, basic essentials like shampoo, toilet paper, and clothing. You should work full time if you are not in school. This way you can save for furniture and emergencies.

The answers to your questions depend entirely on where you live or want to live. Cost of living in NYC is 3 to 4 times higher than in a rural, southern town. (assuming you live in the US)
Generally, you should spend about 1/3 of your income on housing including utilities. You can usually get an estimate of what the previous owner paid from the utility company.

About $2000.00 is a good move out amount. It can cover first and last months rent in some places, and you can go to Rent-a CENTER or equivilant, and get som furniture.

Don't think moving out will make your life easier. It doesn't. You have to deal with everything on your own and it's HARD.
