This has been going on in Mexico for the past 150 years. In this case they claim several things the main being that they are not happy with the results of the last election. Was it really fixed,...duh this is Mexico!. The violence is much greater closer to the U.S. border but the instigators are admittedly different, Oaxaca involves more professionals (ie teachers). There is very little respect for law in Mexico. hmmm, seems to be a little of that slipping up north from there too.

The people in Oaxaca Mexico are rioting for some of the same reasons that are driving millions of Mexicans across our borders. The government of Mexico is corrupt and the people of Mexico are very close to civil war. A Marxist Presidential candidate just lost the election by less than 2% of the vote. He has vowed to start a parallel government including a parallel army. The people of Mexico are tired of the cast system they have lived under since the Spanish invaded.

Everyone has been focused on Iraq, Iran and North Korea when the biggest threat is just over our border. We need to do everything we can to help the Mexican people stabilize their country. If we don’t, today’s illegal problem will look like a drop in the bucket when we have millions of refugees flooding over our borders.

Because the Mexican government is spineless and the teacher's union controls the educational system and regularly uses blackmail and violence to get what they want (why should teachers care about students, right? Typical union mindset).

The government actually gives these thugs back pay for the time they were out striking, beating dissenters, and burning up the town. How bizarre is that?
