rfamilymember is right and so is his method for getting the answer. It's $113.33

Just multiply this by 0.075 to check. (That's 7.5 hundredths, in other words,7.5 per cent.)

Finding the selling price

First convert 7.5% to decimal

7.5 ÷ 100 = 0.075

Divide

8.50 ÷ 0.075 = 113.3333333

113.33 Dollars rounded to two decimal places

The answer is $ 113.33

If a state is charging 7.5% tax, then it is high time to move to a new state with lower taxes. The price of living is too high. You do the math.
