I broke my laptop screen while opening it and now i can only see the top lefthand side of the screen. I have it connected to a monitor at the moment but its very annoying. Didnt take out insurance when i bought it in PC World 11 months ago. Just wondering does anyone know any other solutions to my little problem? Dont want to spend big money esp when the laptop is not even a year old!

I agree with most people. You will have to buy a new LCD screen. You warranty might cover accidental damage, check into that first.

If not http://www.screentekinc.com or eBay should have your screen.

Good luck.

You may be able to find a replacement screen or look for a dead laptop of the same kind on ebay. (when i mean dead i mean having the screen working)
Screens aren't hard to replace, but may set you back a lot of money (they're probably the most expensive part of a laptop).
If you're not prepared to pay that, then either stick to using a PC monitor or get a new laptop :(

you can get a replacement screen from a computer fair in tottnham court road under BT tower (used to go there every sat morning) then see if someone can connect the new/second hand screen to your laptop, to be honest wit you, shop around first ex: e-bay, also magazines like: computers shoppers, everyday practical microelectronics, or you can get a new one/second hand @ the same price you would pay to repair the old one.

take extended insurance next time you make a big purchase such as this one.

all the best

In a case like this the laptop will have to be shipped to the manufacturer to replace the screen. If its 11 months old then go to the manufacturer's website to see if its still under warranty. Quite a few have a one year warranty. If so you get the screen replaced for free.

you can buy a new screen from a website like newegg or pricegrabber, then look up directions on how to install it on google. Thats what i did with my laptop's touchpad.

go on ebay and searc for a new screen, u can usually get one for under $200. they are easy as heck to install. you take out like 6 screws, remove the keyboard, unplug the screen, plug the new one in, rescrew your 6 screws and you are done, takes like 5 minutes.

I'm not sure if there is a good fix, but Insurance on appliances is a pet peave of mine. If they dont feel good enough about their product to guarentee it for longer, then why should i feel good enough to buy it???
Extra ins is just a scam to make more $ off us!!!
Doesn't it have a one yr warrentee/guarentee from where u bought it? Did u talk to them about it? Try it, might just work.
