Some babies are fat, but I think it's 'baby fat' which usually disappears when they are toddlers.
Our lives are very different than the 1950's - 1970's. Computer games, etc. Kids don't move as much. We did a lot of running around outside; bike, skate, etc.
Also there was no fast food then. We went to a cafe or restaurant only occasionally. Kids now go every week; maybe nightly to eat something before mom carpools them to their next activity. What kid doesn't eat French Fries?

I'm American, and I was born a light 6 pounds, or whatever that is in your measuring system.

As non Americans, guess we should leave them to blubber up as much as nature allows.
As long as they pay for the extra airline seats when they visit :-)
