Best thing to do is just dress nice (business casual), go to court by yourself, hold your hands in your lap and apologize for your mistake. Ask the DA if there is anything you can do to fix the situation. Usually they'll work with you, as long as you be sure to say "Yes, Sir/Ma'am" and "thank you". Be polite and businesslike, and they usually either let it go or just charge you a small fine (and if you show up, the often make sure it doesn't even go on your license)

Good luck!

It isn't necessary to go to court if you aren't contesting the fine or the charge. You should be able to pay the fine by taking the money and your licence to the court offices, along with the charge sheet/letter and hand over both. They may possibly withold your license for the points to be added which could take some time.
I've been fined about 4 times in 29 years of driving. My current 3 points should come off the records either around now, or this time next year. Good luck.

no, thats wrong, a crime stands for life

Just go to court and pay up. it sounds like the NIP got lost in the post, unless you were well over the limit and they want to really give you a heafty fine. Maye they'll lock you up, take a toothbrush with you.

By the way, as well as speeding you are also guilty of not being ablwe to count 22 May is less than 6 months ago. you can't get away with it just becuase the courts are busy, where's the logic to that ?

This forum is full fo people who get speeding tickets/fines/summonds and thing that jsut by posting a message here they'll get a way out of it. How weak do you think the law is ?

asking for evidence very important, do not get mad be polite and soft spoken, but find all sorts of problems with evidence, like I can not even read the number plate on my car in this picture, I hope you didn't sign the ticket intially.......on may 22nd. Tell em you dont have the money you cant pay......be so petty that they will reduce the fine depending how much it was i could help you at least a 200 dollars.......(at least in my case when I speed ...oh yeah I speed ...I max it where the engines stop revings and car just buzzes the spedometer does not enough digits to go high, its fun to burn some rubber lol)

This is in reference to our constitutional right to a "speedy trial". Unfortunately, this right must be petitioned for before the court prior to the time clock starting to tick. Based on your statement, it does not sound like you have been to court to seek this.

On your appearance in November, you may ask for this to start the clock, but my advice to you would be to get to court an hour early and track down the city or county prosecutor. There is a 99% chance you can bargain down the speeding charge to reflect something other than a moving violation so that your insurance premiums are not affected and pay a small fine---providing you weren't speeding at some ridiculous speed.

Good luck

Why is it that only when people are caught for doing wrong do they want to put it right?
Stop bit*hing about going to court. Accept you did wrong. If you were prepared to do wrong in the first place then you are surely prepared to take the consequences.
Just be thankful you're going to court for speeding and not death by reckless driving!

if this was the first you had heard from them about the speeding offence then they would be wrong, but this doesnt seem to be the case as you were stopped, so you are aware of it.

they have to notify you that you have been caught speeding within 14 days

always ask for the evidence also !!!

but if you have been caught bang to rights then looks like a fine and points on your licence.

I've heard that as well, a friend is going to court on Monday exactly 6 months after the date of the offence.

Suggest you contact a Solicitor.

Depending on how fast you were going, just mail in you're not guilty plea, they usually dismiss it and you don't have to go to court. (they'll notify you by mail). It generally works for first time traffic offenders, especially if you were barely speeding. Unfortunately, being a girl is a plus, too.
