There are tests out there that say you can use them 3 days before your missed period (First Response, I believe is the brand). I asked my doctor once when you would first be able to notice the signs of pregnancy and what the earliest possible time would be to get an accurate result from a pregnancy test. He told me that you can notice symptoms of pregnancy and get a positive result on a test as little as five days after conception. So, I would think that you could take a test at any time you suspect you may be pregnant. They just might be at their most accurate once you have missed a period.

And there are many women's clinics that do free pregnancy tests. But I've also been told that the tests they run in the doctors offices are pretty much the same tests you can buy at the store. But for me, it's always been reassuring to get confirmation from a doctor.

Depends on the test. If you mean the at-home tests - there are some you can take any time, and others that work only if you wait until a day after you miss a period. READ THE BOX

You can also go to your doctor - they can test your urine and blood at any time to see if you have raised hormone levels that indicate pregnancy.

You can take one at any time you want. However you should wait until you miss your period. Some tests can detect pregnancy 4 days before you are to get your period. At the doctor their tests are more accurate if you wait til the 40th day. So if you are on a 28 day cycle you would be 12 days late. However the tests at the doctor can detect pregnancy before the 40th day. My doctor just told me to wait until the 40th day, that way I wouldn't get a negative result and then have to come back when I still don't get my period on the 40th day. You decide whether you want to take it before you miss your period or after. You might be wasting money if you do it before.

Good Luck :)

All tests currently available to test for the presence of a pregnancy look for the presence of the beta subunit of hCG or human chorionic gonadotropin in the blood or urine. They are usually performed after a missed menstruation or 2-3 weeks after ovulation.

HCG can be detected in urine or blood after implantation, which occurs six to twelve days after fertilization.[1] Some home pregnancy tests claim to detect hCG as early as 4 days before the next expected period. Whether that statement is accurate for an individual woman depends on the length of her luteal phase and on how soon that individual embryo implanted.

You can take it a day or two before you expect it to come. I got positive reading on a test 2 days before mine was to start. Buy the test with 2 in a pk, just in case you need to re-test. Good Luck!

Anytime at all, if you are unsure if you are pregnant or not, it's always a good idea just to check. Remember that those tests are not always accurate, so go to a doctor to confirm.
