As Ben Franklin once said, he who would give up his liberty for a little security ends up with neither.
We are used to hearing about this or that government citing "security" and "state secrets" and "protecting society" as an excuse for all sorts of outrages on its citizens - warrantless searches and arrests, routine wiretapping, indefinite detentions, secret trials, and the like.
And here we are, doing the same thing we tsk tsk other governments for doing. The day will come when this question and this answer will get us arrested and jailed.

My first thougt was: It sucks, Unfortunately, all of the others suck worse. But that, like many first thoughts, is an exaggeration. It has its problems, but the bureaucrats try to do something reasonable with the crap that Congress gives them, and mostly do fairly well at it.

We were fine before without it. I see no need for a ridiculous and useless waste of tax dollars.

If they develope the technology to do it I imagine they would keep it secret. Most Americans are empty headed so there would be no issue for them.
