I've always been told that if a baby is on liquid formula not to switch to powder b/c their bellies have a hard time handling it. It is the same for babies on powder? My baby is exclusively on powder formula, but I was given 5 large cans of liquid. Is is okay to give it to him or will it tear up his tummy?

Ok, first of all, WIC in states vary. My state which is Ohio, gives out only liquid now. This started last month. My son started the liquid today after being exclusively on powder for 9 months. Well he had a nurse from the county here today to evaluate his development and I asked her why he started spitting up again. She said, the liquid is richer and properly mixed. Powder is harder to get mixed teh same exact way every single time. They recommend liquid since it is mixed exactly right. However, I prefer the powder but I do not have a say. It may take up to 3 days for the adjustment to not spit up but she said that it definately will not hurt him in anyway it just takes some getting used to. Only use it if it is the same brand and type that you are currently using since switching formula can cause stomach problems.

My daughter actually became constipated when I switched from powder to liquid one month. So, I just added a little water to the liquid formula and that seemed to make it better. Then I switched back to powder (which is easier to take with you when you go places, anyway)

As long as it is the same brand it is fine. I have never heard anything about not giving a baby powder if they are on liquid, I am a mother of four. I have given all four of my children both liquid and powder. But if you are concerned just call your child's pediatrician.

I used both powder and liquid. They were the same once the powder was mixed. I dont see how the difference would hurt at all.

It is actually better for your baby to have liquid formula for just that reason. It is much easier on their bellies because it doesn't have little clumps like powder formula.

If it is the exact same brand and everything going from powder to liquid will be fine! My aunt used both back and forth with her daughter and nothing happened as long as it is the exact same everything only difference is one is powder and one is liquid ... you could also call the company and ask for their opinion and they will most likely send some coupons for contacting them ..

I'm using both on my 3 week old little boy right now. No ill effects. We have powder for when we go out and liquid for when where at home. Just makes life a little easier. Good luck and go ahead and give it to him.

I used both with my children , but have always prefered the Powder Formula. There both about the same , just different form, It's okay to give to him as long as its the same kind of formula he already on.

as long as the baby formula is the same brand as the powder formula, you should be fine.. the only way the baby will have a belly ache is if you switch formula brands with out talking with your doctor

It's the same, as long as it's the same brand. WIC only gices out powder because it's cheaper, but I used the premixed liquid. The bottles that babies are given in the hospital are the premixed liquid.
