My fantail goldfish got stuck to the filter intake last night. I got him off, put him in a seperate tank without a filter for the time being. He is still alive, but very weak. He floats for a few mins, and then will swim a few inches, and float again. I tried to get him to eat, but he wont. He made it through the night, and seemed a bit better today. But I dont know what else to do. Im not ready to give up on him yet. HELP!

you have to give him medication such as melafix it is a all natural medicine for fish no chemicals to treat his torn fins and open wounds and any bacteria he will get from the cuts keep a close eye on him good luck!

Try feeding him some peas. He may have swim bladder disease, which will cause fish to either stay at the bottom or float at the top of their tank. They will also swim sideways and have difficulty maintaining their balance.

There is still a great possibility that he will not make it, unfortunately, as fish have to be quite weak to begin with to get stuck in filters. Good luck, though.

Wow, you have a pretty strong filter there for such a small fish. I am really sorry to say, he may not make it. Keep working with him, make sure you try to feed him, but when he doesn't eat to get the food out of the water. If you leave it in it will make him worse. If possible add an airstone to the tank he is in now so he has some water movement and O2 flow. Make sure you keep an eye on him on a regular basis and keep him away from any aggressive fish. As for you filter, if possible get a smaller one, with less power until your fish get bigger.

Check him over really good to make sure there is no holes in his chest area and fins really good its not like healthy fish to get sucked up like that they usually are strong enough to swim away from them he could have been week to begin with you might want to check out his tank mattes to see if everyone is OK you did good by pulling him out you may need to get some med for him something maybe for fin growth but also for the floating bladder if its got a hole in it or a leak you need to treat that as well Lott's luck to ya !!!

yes your goldfish should be fine if you can get him to eat somthing ,this isnt cruical but it will help. Also if you do have a aerator i would suggest putting that in the tank that he is in occasionally for a half hour or hour depending on how many fish you have in the other tank .

,good luck
