Depending on the file size, a 512 MB MP3 player can usually hold 100-120 songs. If you're wondering how much each MP3 player can hold, try looking up the MP3 player you're interested in on Yahoo Shopping or something like that -- Yahoo Shopping lists the technical specifications of each electronic item they sell, and all the MP3 players I've checked out on Yahoo have a little blurb where they tell you about the prominent features, like how many songs you can put on the player.

Depends on the format you save them as : wma or mp3. I can get about 10 hours of music using mp3 (128bps) compared to about 8 hours with WMA. High quality sound takes more space, but earbud headphones aren't that great, so it's hard to tell. Figure about 1000KB per minute - for a rough approximation, about 500 minutes

that depends on the filesize of each song... when they say "this player holds 1000 songs" they rate that on the basis that each song is 3 minutes long, at 128kb/s, which is almost never the case these days. most likely, you'll be able to squeeze 1.5 - 2 hours of music on 512 mb....but mmost likely the battery will run out before 2 hours. go for the Sandisk 4gb model instead.
