Union busting is as old as the industrial age. Closing factories and retail outlets to break unions has been common since the end of the nineteenth century. Closing a store is a lot less expensive to a company like Wal-Mart than letting a union be established.

It is too bad that here in the United States the Unions have an adversarial relationship with management. In many countries Unions work with management and not against them—it is one of the secrets of Japan's success.

It is clear that here in the United States the distribution of wealth within most companies is enormously unfair. With executives making hundreds of millions of dollars in salary and perks while the average worker is not making a living wage--something is very wrong with this formula.

This is probably a great time for Unions to revive. This time they must keep the crooks away and work with management and the government. There is clearly a need for organized labor in America and I am a conservative and have served in senior management positions.

Why do you think the Canadian boarder is stated to be secured like fort Knox? you know how many illegal Canadians are in U.S.?
Maybe 20 to 30 thousand and they are not working for cheap labour, depressing wages. Plus they most all come home. Over all wages are better, every citizen has full health care and you pick your own doctors, theorist, podiatrists, den tests etc.(low income workers & recepients of government transferpayments get persriptions free.
Meanwhile deserate poor Mexians are fkeing to U.S. to escpe poverty & build the American dream, Being deperate they eill work for unstunable wagese This exactly what places like Wal-Mart and McDonlds want a large insecure workforce willing to work forpeanuts, When people organize they takk and exchange ideas. Power people responsable for depressed wages, while ecconomy at all time high want you to blame "those Spics" stealing jobs etc. So racism is encouraged, so lower class on economic ladder stay divided unorginized and blaming people in the same situation they are in, so terror is a false flag. Imagime if people globally reused to buy anythimg at wal -Mart or McDonalds say every tuesday. THAT WOULD GET THEIR ATTENTION!! emplees would not risk jobs. Just no costumers. Especially Wal-Mart is making legal precedent by offering company "Health Plan" by signing employees up for Medicare. Other companies are watching to see how this devlopes before trying it themselves....MARY

Because they do not want to end up like Gm or Ford. Interesting that some would give this a negative rating. When this is exactly why they are doing it, exactly. I did not say I agreed or disagreed , I just answered the question. Unforunately too many people pontiifcate there personal prejudice rather than simply answering the question.

Because unions are antiquated and obsolete. Walmart & McD's pay generously with good benefits, without the need for the crippling weight of a useless union that would not gain the workers anything and would only harm the business.

Very sad, that organization among employees is discouraged.

Because they don't want to deal with the extortionists who run the unions. And because they are smart they don't.
