It's Not Possible in Gmail

You cannot unless someone's SMTP server is configured to send out a `return-receipt'.. and even then you will just get an acknowledgement from a dumb server that your mail has been `received' and someone will look into the same very soon... these sort of things (which you want) can be configured with a `pop3' based mail client (using the `return-receipt' command) and not with a `web-based' one

It is not possible in gmail.Gmail no has this type of facility.
