Can I (on a Novell network) turn an IP address into a computer name (I think this is "reverse DNS")?

you cannot do this...
as the aim of dns is to resolve ip from name for simplicity,so why would someone remember a long number besides a simple name!!

Two ways.

1. Put a host A record into your DNS Server
or
2. Edit the LMHosts file on the local machine that you want to see the remote computer.
(Do a search for LMhost.sam and edit it with notepad)
e.g

192.168.1.10 localserver

This will tell the local machine that the "Localserver" IP address is 192.168.1.10
