I've tried everything the manual says, from changing the EQ in te PC and then changing it in the iPod, change the volume of the files, but I still think the sound sucks. Bass is always bad in R&B, Rock, Lounge, Loudness... I had a Sony Net MD and the sound was so much better and I paid 1/4 of what I spent in my 5th generation iPod.

For the money they cost, they sound terrible IMO! You pay for the name Apple, NOT sound quality.

Im actually quite sick of the white earbud IPOD headphones that everyone sports.. its turned into some sort of fashion trend. Unfortunately those headphones are the worst type you can get. Barely able to reproduce every frequency.

Aside from the headphone issue I plugged in an ipod into my car stereo system (top notch system) and the sound sounded very FLAT, with a genuine lack of depth. It seemed like.. ok here is the song, you can hear the words.. but fidelity is out the window. Try listening to an IPOD on a large system vs a cd player.

I think you should try new headphones. the ones your currently using probably suck. I have a ipod nano and i purchased a differnet set of earphones because the ones it came with were too big for me. The new ones sound incredible, a lot of bass. The ones that come with the ipod aren't of best quality.
