when I was in school, I did an experiment and started hugging people in the airport out of the blue. Most people were shocked but then they said it was a nice thing, 1 lady started crying and said she'd been longing for affection for awhile, and some people asked if they knew me, etc....

I'd hug them back. Why not? Everyone needs affection....even if from a stranger.

I have heard of this experiment before. I think its such a great thing to do, as long as you are careful. I have never hugged some one out of the blue, but have given a lot of hugs to the elderly at a nursing home i worked at. It made their day the best, and a smile on a face is awesome.

Hugs are nice but I won't go hugging strange people and I wouln't like it if strange people hugged me. Don't know, I wouldn't feel comfortable. But a smile would be nice :)

i would pat them on the back while they were hugging me and then wait for them to stop so that i could ask them what the deal was.
