okay heres the story
there was a ittle girl in my school bus who brought a small bat with her in a jar with only a few holes to breathe in (apparently)
all the kids where trying to shake the jar to make it wake up, and where tying to hit it with their books

anyway..when we got dropped of to school, i ran up to the girl and asked her if she was going to let it free after, she said no! and when asked what she would feed it, she just shrugged her shoulders!
anyway...while i had a free period,( and she was at a swimming competition...by luck) i snuck into her class(i didnt know which one it was...so i checked every place) and i "stole" the bat -

...but i dont know whats wrong with it :/ it wont really move - dont know if i should just leave it somewhere cus if its sick and doesnt fly one of the stray cats will eat it

if i leave chelique(her name) with other bats, will they look after her, or are they not really that sort of animals??

thank you for your answers and concern -
the bat is okay now, after feeding it something, it flew around the house, and then flew outside-
i have quite a lot of bats around my neighbourhood, so he should be just fine :)

as the people stated above, the vet is the best option, tell them you found it, and they have no reason to think youre lying. they would, or should see if there is anything that they can do, if not, and its doomed, then i guess they would put it down. but im sure that they would take it for free, and make sure to use an alcholic based hand sanatizer before and after you touch it, this stops anything you have from making its condition any worse, if it could get worse, and stops anything on the bat from making you sick.

You should not be handling wild bats...you should have gotten it to a rehab in your area where they can treat it properly and re-release it into the wild. It is illegal to possess wild animals such as bats and they can carry rabies (not very common), but if you had been bitten they would kill the bat to test it, so best to leave it to the experts in the future.

The best thing to do is to take it to your local Vet. They will care for it. If you tell them that you found it, they will do it for free. They should be the ones that put it down if it needs to happen. You did a great thing by rescuing it, but you should have a Vet handle it now.
