It just seems like if one did, it would be a much more drastic problem than when a tampon or pad leaks.

My Mooncup sometimes leaks but this is because I have menorrhagia (excessively heavy periods) so on a heavy day I have to empty every two to three hours, so you could imagine how much worse it was when I was using tampons and pads, most women are perfectly safe from leaking within the twelve hours they can wear them for. When I do leak it is normally just pink discharge unless I ignore it for too long without emptying or I am at the peek of my heavy day and a sudden gush would come out (again, much worse with tampons and pads).

Leaking with a menstrual cup is less drastic, because of the suction and cupping blood stays inside the cup so if there is a chance of leaking it's normally just a small amount of blood in with discharge unless we are talking about extremes like menorrhagia. A few women do leak due to abnormalities in their vaginal anatomy or some find menstrual cups shift slightly with sex or bowel movement, but still not often and very slight.

It can be messy of course, but consider with a menstrual cup it just needs a wipe and insert, where as if you leak with a tampon or pad you need to dispose of them, mess about with putting a new tampon in or pad on, far far less chance of leaking with a menstrual cup.

I've never used the divacup, but I have had an "Instead" softcup leak. It wasn't anymore drastic than a tampon leaking...just a sign that it needed to be changed.

I don't have one yet. I called the local health store and they were out of the size I need, and said it should be in by next Thursday.

I did, however talk with the lady behind the counter about her experience with it. She is 33 and has 2 children. It's the only thing she uses, and LOVES it. She told me that, like with tampons, you have to learn how to use them (insertion and removal) and get use to them. After that its just as easy as a tampon or pad.

She said that she didn't have leakage problems. But one thing is for sure you have to know yourself and what kind of flow your having. There would be no harm in removing, and cleaning it more often if you are nervous.
