I have a phone interview at 2pm today with a very well known internet company. I marked it on my calendar yesterday before leaving work. I come in this morning and my boss schedules a meeting for the same time. I really want to do the phone interview for the internet company. What should I do? How can I resolve this?

I don't want to reschedule the phone interview because I'm afraid it will make me look bad that I can't make appointments and I really want that job. I don't want to reschedule with my boss because I don't have a good reason to tell him for rescheduling. Someone help me please.

Tell your boss that you have a major problem that deals with the family so you cant make it to the meeting. You should pick what you want most.

I would still ask to reschedule the phone interview, explaining that your present Boss has scheduled an unexpected meet at the same time. This will show the "Phone Interview Company" that you are being a responsible employee for the "present boss", which sounds professional and responsible.

Reschedule with the phone interview. If you don't get the job, you'll at least want to be able to keep the one you're at now. Calling a few hours ahead to reschedule will also make you look responsible because it will show that your present job is your most important. Nobody wants to hire someone that will blow off their bosses on a maybe..

Could you not explain to the telephone interview people that you've had something scheduled at work and, as you would prefer your current employer not to know you are looking for a new position, that you would be extremely grateful if they were able to re-schedule the telephone call? Otherwise lie to your current boss and say you have a Dr appointment and try to get out of the meeting they have scheduled. Good luck.

been where you're at...call the phone interview and ask them if you can move it up or back an hour (you'll be surprised at how accommadating they can be)
you can't put your current job in peril.

Cancel one of them, and spend less time on Yahoo! Answers in the future so that these mistakes don't happen again...

You must saw yourself in half. Then one half can go to one meeting, and the other half to the other meeting! Chainsaws work great at doing this.
