Christie because of her very memorable characters and the fact that her mysteries are fairly well-rounded, not just straight suspense-only, what's going to happen in the next paragraph mysteries which is so prevalent today.
Jeffrey Archer would be my second choice though. His books are just very exciting and grab your attention all the way through.

i like sidney sheldon and John Grisham but Agatha Christie is the best. sheldon and Grisham becomes pretty much predictable when you read around 3-5 novels each author but agatha christie still made me think and guess all the time...

I prefer old school mysteries and Chritie always wins hands-down....the writing is very simple and has a clear flow and yet, she writes about very complex issues e.g. love, human greed, lust, compulsion to kill etc....
Archer, Sheldon and Grisham are a little to pedestrian.....with the exception of some notable works from Grisham and Archer, they pander too much to creating a "complex twist" which sometimes makes the plots convoluted in there complexity.......i.e.too many issues going on at the same time which diverst the reader from the central plot...

Agatha Christie - her work is timeless and has inspired others. I enjoy John Grisham but don't think his work will stand the test of time.

Jeffery Archer by far. His books are so good you don't want to put the book down. I tried reading books by Agatha Cristie but i found to be over-descriptive.
