My manual says IDE 1 Master HD, and slave DVD. Ide 2 master DVD. That is how I set it up. Second answer told me never put DVD on same IDE as HD. What is correct? Also how do I check the bios, and what should it read?

It is perfectly fine, however I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have to. I would set IDE 1 with Master HD and then IDE 2 as master DVD and slave DVD.
EDIT: Ummm, yes it will, I have done it. Don't really know what else to say, alchemist may have a lot of years of experience, but he is wrong here. Now you will have trouble burning to both at the same time, but just having them connected is not a problem. If you are interested in burning two DVDs at the same time, then you should go ahead and leave it with them on seperate IDEs, but even then you need a very powerful system to do that.

You can put two DVD burners on the same IDE channel, they will just run slower. The new burners, don't need to be set up in the BIOS, Windows will detect them just fine.

Mysticman is wrong. Windows won't let you have two burners on the same IDE channel. He doesn't know that, I guess. That's why you have to put one burner on the Primary channel with the hard drive, as Slave, then one on the Secondary channel, as Master.

you can add a dvd behind the master HD with no problems.. just make sure the dvd is set to slave( jumper on the drive itself)
i would hook up as follows:
ide1: master harddrive(master) dvd(slave)
ide2: dvd (master) and whatever optical drives after this set as slave
