Neil young is canadian....which is kinda weird that he sings "southern man" isn't it? I don't really care, cause i hate Bush more than they do. I actually own both "Rock Against Bush" cd's and videos. Glad to know i'm not the only one who hates him, Thanks for rockin in the free world Neil!

The Dixie Chicks are currently popular ... and their opinions are televised. If the media reported on Neil Young's album, there would have been widespread public disgust.

Lets face it...BUSH SUCKS...I actually love the Dixie Chicks and I think people just want to intimidate them into silence. They are saying out loud what other punk *** artists are afraid to say because they are afraid of losing their contracts. The other reason is because they are women..yeah I said it!!! Kanye West made a song too, but no one has said anything about that since it happened. And yeah I agree with the last post.

Different fan bases. The Dixie Chicks' fans raise a stink because the kind of people attracted to their music are more likely to be Republican than the kind of people attracted to Young's music. :P

i've answered a question to a guy who was talking a bunch of trash about how the dixie chicks need to shut up. that's just ludicrous. i'm from texas too and i don't agree with bush as president. i said it was stupid for them to be burning their cd's and stuff when dixie chicks were exercising their right to free speech!!

i didn't know that anyone was still holding on to that whole dixie chicks thing...and neil young is canadian..so maybe that's why people think he can get away with it.

Timing, fan base, and method.
I think most people were offended they said it to an over sea's audience. A majority of the DC's fan base was red state.
