Definately!!
A&E Units are often extremely busy anyway, especially over the weekends, and through personal and professional experience, drunken yobs cause havoc in A&E. With violence and aggression often directed at the staff trying to help them and making other patients and relatives experiences upsetting..it's insanity!!
I recently had a very sick relative waiting to be treated, he had actually been triaged and was supposed to have top priority but a drunken yob came to A&E and caused absolute chaos, taking the attention away from a vulnerable, helpless patient with an illness that wasn't self-inflicted! An absolute disgrace and I hope these people wake up the next day and feel regret for the way they behave...................but they probably don't bloody remember!!
A fine would trigger their memory though!!!

Yes I do think it's right to fine them. I'm a nurse and it's no fun getting abuse from patients, drunk or not. The waiting times are horrendous as it is in A&E and it's an absolute fact that despite the triage system, doctors and nurses are being taken away from people who really need the help. Not that I'm unsympathetic towards people suffering from alcoholism. It's a terrible illness, but often these people dont need A&E treatment. The help they need is from a 12 Step counselling programme. And some people really are drunken yobs going out and getting into fights because they haven't got anything better to do!

Sure. Great. Because all drunken yobs will be carrying £80 on them, won't they?
Or will they be frog marched to the nearest cash machine?
From what I see in my local town centre on saturday nights, the police won't go near a gang of trouble making yobs unless they - the police -are fully kitted up and mob-handed.
It sounds like a good idea, designed to appeal to slipper wearing, 'daily mail' readers.
In reality, it's not gonna happen

Having had experience first-hand of being on the receiving end of drunken yobbish abuse I think this 'on the spot' fine nonsense is nothing more than a stealth tax dreamt up by a morally corrupt government who have given up on governing the country in the name of the people who elected them. The only thing that will work is to build more jails, lock them up and make sure they are out of the way of the rest of the general public. Either that or bring back flogging...

Given the geographical 'large' as being massive, as pronounced someplace else, and ignoring the diatribe from Anon, who won't even hit upon him/her self, Britain is large. yet we Britons, (and massive Britons besides!) have a stunning capacity, which has progressed interior the previous 30 years, for working ourselves down. We additionally advance our heroes, then, having set them on a pedestal, we do each and everything we are able to to knock them off returned. And we moan on the subject of the main trivial concerns. it incredibly is totally almost develop into our nationwide activity! All of which makes us 'Grate' Britain! So why are we nevertheless large? seem around something of the international, and notice how nicely off we are! we don't have the climate failures that beset various different factors of the international. we've freedom of speech it incredibly is the envy of the international. we've a useful favourite of residing (nicely maximum do, and various of people who do no longer, have made extensive wide awake way of existence selections) we've a lot to be large-ful for in this united states. the element is that what makes this united states is the persons. we've the capacity to moan - particular - yet we nevertheless get the job executed. we've the organic capacity to make the terrific of notwithstanding problem we hit upon ourselves in, and as long as we are able to try this, Britain will continuously be large.

Its sad that the brilliant people who often work for a pittance have to put up with the daily onslaught by violent drunks (or drug addled idiots). A hefty on the spot fine should stop them, but it should be on an fine per violent attack, else they may think they can get their money's worth by multiple attacks!

Yes, lock them up or start getting people to pay for the medical aid they recieve, it will help ease the NHS and yobs will spend less time getting into the walls when they know if they get hurt, the only way they will recieve treatment is if they pay for it.
