Many historians think that he's the worst in SOME AREAS. For instance, his handling of the environment has been deemed the worst, and that even George Washington had more regard for the environment. His tax policies that benefit mostly the rich are also extreme, in that they make Nixon look like a flaming liberal. I think he has mis-handled the war in Iraq, but we also had Vietnam in recent history. It is all a matter of opinion, and my opinion is that he definitely isn't the BEST president we've ever had. And one can truly make the argument that he was put there by his peers so they (Rumsfeld, Rice, Cheney, etc) could run the country. I actually feel pretty sorry for him, because I think he's just a simple guy that got in too deep.

History will most likely put him above the middle of the pack of presidents, perhaps even around the top 25% mark. He is running a strong economy will all economic indicators at or near record levels.
He would probably rank higher but overall his non-handling of the media and aloofness when it came to the media has damaged his popularity.
There are few countries that despise us that didn't do so before he was President. France and the EU have been bolstering their position in the world by leading outright attacks against the US on the diplomacy fronts.
As far as not catching Bin Laden and the Iraq war. The war has detracted Bin Laden's followers keeping them from carrying off any other terrorist acts. Prior to 9/11 there was a major attack against the US or US interests every 18 months. And Bin Laden has been in hiding in a cave for 5 years, unable to effectively manage his followers.
Once the war is over historians will shed the truth about the war. And the big picture, since 2005 the Democrats have been controlling the media in anticipation of the 2006 elections.
Bush's greatest failure, like his father, has been an inability to controlm the media.

The war in Iraq was going to happen eventually, if not in Iraq, then it would be in some other sand filled shithole in the middle east. The sad thing is, the Saudis fund most of it, and we don't dare go after them, because we use too much of their oil. Of course, if we drilled in ANWAR, we could get away from that.
Did Bush cause Katrina you ******* idiot? Why didn't Nagin call for an evacuation? Why didn't the governor of Louisiana call for an evacuation? Why would you build a city on the coastline BELOW SEA LEVEL? Did FEMA drop the ball in the aftermath? Yep. Was it ALL BUSH"S FAULT? No.
We will find Bin Laden, give it time. In the meantime, we have removed a lot of his lieutenants from action, haven't we? Why did Clinton turn down the opportunity to take Bin Laden when he was offered up on a platter?
Bush is unpopular, but I still respect the man. He doesn't change positions every time the wind blows.
you want to know the worst president in recent history? His name is Jimmeh Cahtah.

Well, compared to every other major war-time president he has been a real softy. I suggest you sharpen up you history skills on Abraham Lincoln, FDR, and L.B Johnson to name a few . Their war time policies make Bush look like a prince comparatively.

Jimmy Carter...?
Grant...?
Hoover...?
Nixon...?
Harding...?
Fillmore....?
Clinton....?
Each of the above presidents had greater failings than Bush. Clinton had his natural disaster failures of FEMA with the Midwest floods, had multiple terrorist attacks go unansweed on US soil, did not catch Ladin, was impeached but not convicted, weakened the military, and disgraced the office with his perjury and hypocracy.

Liberals claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war. They complain about his prosecution of it. One liberal recently claimed Bush was the worst president in U.S.history. Let's clear up one point: President Bush didn't start the war on terror. Try to remember, it was started by terrorists BEFORE 9/11.
Let's look at the "worst" president and mismanagement claims.......
FDR led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year
.
Truman finished that war and started one in Korea.
North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,333 per year.
John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962.
Vietnam never attacked us.
Johnson turned Vietnam into a quagmire.
From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year.
Clinton went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent. Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions. Over 2,900 lives lost on 9/11.
In the two years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaeda, put nuclear inspectors in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people.
We've lost 600 soldiers, an average of 300 a year.
Bush did all this abroad while not allowing another terrorist attack at home.
Worst president in history? Come on!
