I think i know why it gives you the error message...
Which Browser do you use?
What version is it?
Google toolbar Supports IE6 (Internet Explorer 6) or Higher.
Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or higher.
If you want then Install Mozilla Firefox- Easiest to use, atleast for me, it is free just go to- www.mozilla.com and /or if you are aware of p2p networks then get a IE 7 setup.
I think it should not give you any error then.

Go to http://toolbar.google.com/ and click download toolbar. If it says its not supported you need to update your internet explorer to a newer version(http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ ). Also make sure you have service pack 2 installed(http://update.microsoft.com/ ).
