I have a 1991 Caprice that has been maintaned good! The car starts up good idols smooth and runs fast! however, when the car reaches full opp. temp and I try to go agan the cars ignition cuts in and out compleatly. this only happens when I acelerate from a stop its like the key is shut off and then on agan. So far I have replaced the cap, wires, ignition mod, coil, and ignition swich, checked all wires going and comeing from the distributer all checks out good. However the problem persists. This only happens when the car is warmed up. O and I have replaced the TPStoo.I dont think its the timeing chain because it runs smooth at idol and all 8 cilenders fire good. The car has 65000 miles on it and burns no oil there are no leaks whatsoever.; I can cause the same thing to happen if I turn the ignition swich on and off while driveing. Any ideas out there???

The car also has a new rotor in it and the car has verry low miles on it it is in show room condition ! I understand these Caprices last over 200000 miles so I dont think I should buy a new car and becides, they only sell Fords in my town and I would rather DIE! than own a ford

The ignition mod. is new and it still does the same thing as the old ignition Mod and I doubt that two ignition mod would have the same trouble.

Yhe fuel filter is new and the fuel pressure is at factory specks. I am pretty sure the problem is electrical. as all cylenders cut off at the same time it doest just miss one or two all 8 cut out at the same time

What this sounds like is that you have a problem with your electrical system. Sounds like there might be an issue with your cars computer. Have you gotten your fuel injection cleaned? Perhaps some impurities from the gasoline have made their way into the fuel injection and subsequently damaged a sensor. That would explain it. Just make sure that you take it in to a qualified place and not just some cheap garage.

this is going to sound stuipid, but sometimes the easiest things are overlooked. that comment about turning off the key while its running makes me think it sounds like its running out of gas, or somehow a short. as far as the gas goes, have you replaced the fuel filter? or maybe checked the fuel pump?

Check that the choke is completly off (open) when Hot. Fuel filter , the fuel psi regulator, fuel pump.
Timing, Vaccum leak. I would check accelerator pump on carb as well. Have fun today.

I'm not sure sounds like everything is kinda new,my advise is call your local Chevrolet dealer and ask them, probably would guid you better than the answers you've recieved here.Sounds to me that there is a fuel shortage feeding the engine.

I think you might have a short going from the steering column to the engine,or possibly a loose connection.......
