If I was Ted Haggard and I didn't do what I was being accused of...then I wouldn't Resign my position as head of the Church...I would Defend myself, If I truly Didn't do it...Does anyone else agree with me? Do you think the President would step down as President if he was accused of the same thing...If you didn't do it..then you have nothing at all to worry about. Right?

But if he told his church he didn't do it...and he was seemingly sincere...then what does he have to worry about.

Oh, you know he did it. That's why he resigned. An innocent man would stay in and fight the good fight. Watch out for gay bashers, because they are usually gay bashing for a reason - ie, to keep people from looking at what they do.

High profile people who are under suspicion cannot work in a normal capacity. Judges have to recuse themselves if there is an appearance of connection to a crime being judged. Police officers have to be reassigned if the investigation approaches them. This is not a new thing and it is an honorable action, right or wrong.
If things sort out and he was exhonorated, then he may, at the pleasure of the organizations affected, he may be restored. Still, the insidious thing, there will be the doubts even should the matter prove crystal clear that he was not at fault. He is as much preparing himself for the enormous change as he is protecting his church and the evangelical association from a distracted and functionally incompacitated leader.
Even in common crimes reported every day. A person is under suspicion on the front page of the news for weeks, but when it is discovered that he didn't do it the news will give a paragraph on page six for one day.

Yeah but they have so much sh*t on him proving that he was banging that dude (voicemails etc.) that denial is a little late. He obviously stepped down because he's been having a gay affair. And I think it's hilarious being that he's one of the biggest proponents of the anti-gay churches. Another one bites the dust! Evangelicals are all such closet homosexuals and hypocrites it's almost funny but it's really not since they are always trying to ruin gay people's lives.

they say that the main suitable of thieves is the guy who's never caught. Haggert is now caught, for having had illicit family members with different ladies and likewise for having a gay better half for 3 years, think of what share greater republican hypocrites are there that arent caught. yet please dont use the term "Godly", Its incorrect, One pastor doing it would not and shouldn't tarnish a twin of the Church or faith, Its a completely individualistic sin and could be regarded upon as such, In each and every faith there are factors that dont join what thier e book says, they interpret the verses to experience thier schedule, the full faith won't be in a position to be blamed for such acts of individual purposes, via George W Bush doing great incorrect and harm, you may't generalize and say the Amercians are undesirable, even with each and every thing there are human beings in Amercia and a great form of them who communicate out and combat out against the evil and upward thrust up for the rights. and who're greater rational and reasonable in thier thinking.

This shows why the Moral Majority and Religious Right are morally bankrupt. Wonder how Rush will answer this story did the Clinton's cause the good reverend to become gay?

Churches (non-catholic) and ministries suffer extremely in these situations. He knew he would not be able to preach publicly again until his name is cleared. That is if he is innocent, if he is guilty-then its over anyway. No God worshiping church would have him. To be a sinner and repent is one thing all Churches hope for. But to be a pastor, and comitt a sin of this magnitude is abominable, and can not be corrected. The man can be forgiven if he repents, but he should never be trusted again as a minister-never, ever. This is if he is guilty.

I do agree with you. He's trying for damage control.
And as my great-grandma said, point one finger at someone else, three point back...

Agreed. The man is a self-hating homosexual.
I wouldn't want to be him right about now. He deserves everything he has coming to him.

Where there is smoke, there is usually fire. There is more than this than we know at this early stage. The truth will come "OUT" -- just as Haggard is now "OUT".

I agree resigning is a fearful reaction. If he had not done it then he did not need to resign.
