i'm all about funny! here are some of my favorite funny animes:
saiyuki - a group of 4 (a priest & 3 demons) are trying to make it to where the "big bad demon" is being resurrected. the priest is pretty cold hearted, one demon is almost the mediator of the group, 1 is a womanizer, & 1 just wants to eat all the time. absolutely hysterical!
full metal panic! a highschool girl that has some form of technology that the bad guys want to ge a hold of so they give her a military body guard who has no idea how to behave in a non-war situation. he goes to extreme in every instance!
Maburaho is pretty funny as well. it's about a kid who can only use his magic once - then it kills him. all the girls want him because his magic is so powerful though.
Slayers - initially a duo (the group gets to be 4-5 members depending on if nagami is with them) of a sorceress and a kinght. he gets this thing in his head that he needs to protect her - maybe he really just wants to keep damage control! she tries to stop demons and evil guys and usually ends up wreaking havoc everywhere as well!
Sorcerer Hunters - 2 brothers (one a sex fiend, one they hint at being gay) 2 sisters (both have the hots for the sex fiend - who wants nothing to do with them) and 1 random buff guy (who is hinted at being bisexual) super funny as well. they are supposed to make sure no sorcerer uses the fobidden magic.
Green Green - an all girls school and an all boys school integrate - need i say more?

Gin Tama (some people think its immature, but it watch it for the laughs :3)
Death Note (just came out Japan about a month ago. Im addicted already)
PS to Ajoop:
Avatar isn't an actual anime, but the creators did a really great job as an imitaion :P

DNAngel had a decent storyline if you ask me. Now bleach. THAT has the messed up storyline.
Anywho. If you want a comedy anime. Then i highly suggest Muteki Kanban Musume. now i dunno what comedy stylings that Gakuen or Ouran would have. But Kanban will still make you laugh. You can get it at the rizon server in the channel #kyuuketsuki on the sysreset program. if you dont have sysreset then go to sysreset.com.
Botou Renkin has some comedy in there as well as D.Gray Man. But Renkin delivers abit more action. Still, it has a more decent storyline than Bleach.

try buying some.
I would say that the best anime ever is not even made by the japanese but by Trey Parker and Matt Stone. The south park episode in the eighth season entitled "fun with weapons".
It is ironically a spoof on anime, but the story, animation (this episode was done in anime style after a certain point) and style far surpassed any anime ever made.
Next watch golgo 13 the professional and the sequel golgo 13 queen bee.

I extremely have considered and loved Monster- they aired it on the Syfy channel. regrettably, that's taking always to be released, and to this point in hardship-free words the first 15 episodes are out on dvd. i like to recommend some thing through Satoshi Kon (Paranoia Agent, suited Blue, Paprika, Tokyo Godfathers, Millenuim Actress). they're both videos, and Paranoia Agent is 13 episodes lengthy. he's my well-liked director, with some outstanding artwork. he's very distinctly acknowledged. Baccano! is likewise brilliant- that's a homicide-secret taking position on a convention. yet then you actually discover accessible is so much better to it. it is also out-of-order, like Haruhi is. 13 episodes lengthy, and with between the ultimate dubs i have ever heard. Ghost Hound - 26 episodes (that's how lengthy a widely used season is), with the psychological/darkish tones that you look to relish, a l. a. Elfen Lied and DtB. Boy and his sister were abducted as babies- he sees her die. Years later he's experiencing unusual phenomena, and existence in his city is getting wierder. makes use of psychological terminology and tries to contain it into each and every episode sybolically. even as they Cry- back, a homicide-secret. that's been dubbed, notwithstanding that's actual between the worst dubs i have ever heard. era. unusual issues are taking position in slightly city referred to as Hinamizawa, and that all of them look dependent round an incident that got here about 5 years in the past. through a number of 'question' and 'answer' arcs (you word one aspect of what's taking position, and then you word what's extremely taking position), you discover bits and products about what's extremely taking position in Hinamizawa and why the murders are taking position.

I'm not sure if you'd like them, but some that I know of are .//Hack, which is more fantasy then humor, Fruits Basket, DNAngel (if you don't mind a messed up storyline), maybe Bleach (ghost hunter type story)?
