I always "tidy up" before I have an appointment with my OB/GYN. I shave my legs, and I "trim the hedges" a bit (lol). I know the doctor could probably care less, as all he is paying attention to is what's on the inside of my private areas. And really, when you're lying on that table - feet in stirrups, your entire world open him and anyone else he chooses to bring in to "observe" the exam - how much more embarassing can you get? It would seem that shaving your legs before an exam should be the least of your worries. But I do it anyway... call me vain. The doctor may or may not notice, but it makes me feel better.

The gynecologist really will not care whether or not you shave your legs. S/he is there to get a job done.

That said, a LOT of women do take extra care with their the day they are going to the gyno. I've met women nine months pregnant who insisted that they get a bikini wax prior to birth so as to look good for their doctor. So you're not alone in worrying.

In my opinion why would you want the gyno or any doctor for that matter see your hairy legs? I always do, there was one time when I was pregnant and I started to bleed. I had to rush to my doctor and she checked me internally. Of course I hadn't shaved my legs in a while. She laughed and said that that was the least of my problems. I was so embarassed, I vowed to myself that I would never be in that situation again. However it's totally up to you whether you care or not, having someone see your hairy legs.

Why should I? Gynecologists examine the sexual organ and not my hairy legs!
