people who think too much, especially who are good and peacful, probably won't have this total peace of mind that you are talking about. it's called life.
and i think that's why monks and buddhist philosophers seek sanctuaries and live separately in an isolated monastery or something, i think they do that to even not hear about the world and be totally spiritual and peacful.
but i can say, that people like you would have the minimum of bad thoughts compared to the population, as every one has his own problems, fears, hopes, etc. so relax and try to enjoy life and consider that a small price for the bigger prize of being expeiencing life.

dear one, in this area we are all OCD so you can stop one bad thought that goes through your mind. I have found helpful as set of books by Florence Scovel Shin. You can find them at Borders or any big chain store. There will never be food and peace, and only happy thoughts. and none of us can block certain things nor should we. but when we have them we can look for the lessons contained and consentrate on that aspect and therefore possibly find the good in what is seeming hurtful or bad. do not fall into the trap that this is OCD and therefore a condition that you are not in control of. it is only a habit that you with practice can and will change. the bad thought will come, you will search and find the lesson. and then when the bad thought enters again, it will be the lesson learned that you will think about not the actual occurrance. i don't think that we need feel bad for albert. i think he was smart enough to have figured this out fairly fast. remember, he said," imagination is more important than education," and, "you can either believe that everything is a miracle or that nothing is. and i choose to believe that everything is."

Well...I believe no one really has a clear, relaxed, happy thoughtfull mind;and thinking only happy thoughts is kinda impossible-how can you feel happy when your dog dies or something like that?I understand what you mean when you say it's hard for you to block certain thoughts,I truly do.But I believe that,at some point,we can help making our mind more positive if we surround ourselves with positive things-like positive people, songs that make you wanna dance, your favourite movie.Making a list with positive sentences and reading it every once in a while works for me-it helps keep going whenever I feel kinda sad.

I don't know your religious beliefs, but for me, I have a bracelet that has a bead for each part of the serenity prayer. God, grant me the SERENITY to accept the things I cannot change, the COURAGE to change the things I can and the WISDOM to know the difference. Living each day, one day at a time, enjoying each moment and accepting hardships as the pathway to peace. Amen
Anytime, life gets me down, I say this little prayer to myself and realize two things: there are some things I just can't do anything about and that's OK and more importantly, I realize, I am NEVER alone in this world - My Lord is right here beside me each step of the way and there is a peace that comes from faith that you can't explain... you just have to experience it. That is where my relaxed, clear and happy mind comes from. Only from the peace that comes from my faith and belief that He is right here with me through it all.
Wow, it is overwhelming and exciting when I think about it!

When a bad thought comes into mind just accept the fact that you thought about it and move on. You know you want peace so what's the problem? Just as you do good things no matter what you think or feel. =)

You want everything to be perfect in order for you to be completely happy, that is your problem. But how realistic is that? Can everything be okay at any given time? You have to find a way of finding joy in small things, and then you'll learn to be happy about bigger things gradually.
