As far as I am aware it is not a general practice the a hospital trust pays for stillborn funerals.

Although many undertakers do not charge for Baby and Infant funerals.

When my baby died the undertaker did not charge for the funeral. We had to pay for the additional car that we wanted and we had to pay for the crematorium but the minister who gave the service also waived her fee. The undertaker waived the charge and told us that this was common practice.

my neice lost her baby within 21 hours of birth we were told that the hospital could arrange the funeral to which there would be no charge but they wait till there are a few babies and bury them all together so there would be no special place for my neice to go. Don't know if this is same policy that your hospital is offering.so we sorted our own funeral arrangements although we did not get charged for all funeral costs some were given free due to a baby being buried. Sorry for your loss xx

If the hospital was negligent (if it was their fault the baby was stillborn) then you can try to get compensation. Im really sorry to hear of your loss Ive been there and its hard. Take any councilling that is offered.

I don't see why the hospital should pay for a stillborn funeral as they have no control over how the baby is born...Sorry for your loss and I really feel for you.

Yes its normal, my close friend lost her daughter as there was two knots in her u/cord and the hospital paid for the casket and one funeral car. I think all funerals are free to children 16 and under! Thats in England

It may be a service that the hospital provides. Could you imagine the weight that would take off of the parents? I think that it would help a person to be able to concentrate on healing.
If it was your baby I am sorry for your loss.

I guess it's possible. Though I would think that the hospital would not be paying for these services.
