Space debris has become a growing concern in recent years, since collisions at orbital velocities can be highly damaging to functioning satellites and can also produce even more space debris in the process, called Kessler Syndrome. Some spacecraft, like the International Space Station, are now armored to deal with this hazard. Also astronauts on EVA are vulnerable; see Extra-vehicular activity.

The first verified collision with catalogued space debris occurred in 1996, tearing off a boom from the French satellite Cerise.

Clouds of very small particles are not as serious but cause erosive damage, like sandblasting.

A collision with space debris such as asteroids could be a threat for us cause it will travel at the high speed and cause an impact that may cause destruction........About earth magnetic field as meteor collide to the sun it will cause the so-called SOLAR FLARE that causes the solar wind to travel at extremely high speed, as it passes the Earth magnetic field it will form "Auroras" on both pole of the Earth (Aurora Borealis=North pole,Aurora Australis= South pole) that causes interruptions on telephone, television, and even satellite signals.

well, it could enter the atmosphere, hit you in the head, knock you out for a few hours and you'll never know more are coming towards our blue planet.
