I think it's rejection. We all yearn to be liked or admired by others, even though lots of people say they don't care what other people think! Rejection can then lead to loneliness, lack of self confidence, depression, jealousy. So I think you're right but maybe both of these stem from the feelings of rejection that come first.

I have to agree with jealousy. I will be the first to admit that jealousy is my Achilles heel. This is my worst trait, and the funny thing is that the one that suffers the most is me. I have lost very very good friends over this. The second most unpleasant feeling for me is anxiety. I hate it hate it hate it.
