they're basically jealous. america is powerful, for some reason the rest of the world cannot separate the people from the govt. and they don't like our govt.

Come, come, Pippa!
I grew up in England, even though I'm a Yank; and many of my best friends are English.
We do make a lot of fun about their driving on the "wrong" side, because we drive on the "right" side. And their food! And their warm beers and all. And they poke fun at me, too.
But it's all friendly banter.
Fact is that most of them know that we're cousins, so to speak.
I've been all over Britain and never came across any Birt who seriously insulted an American.
Maybe being a 6'2" tall, musclebound ape does make a difference, but, seriously, no Brit I know would do that.
But, if you're talking about a Paki in England, that's a totally different story.
They sound English, but are totally anti-American and Anti- England.
God knows why they don't go home, though.
The English have been telling them that for ages.

Unfortunately Pippa, you all get 'tarred with the same brush'.
Generally, speak to most people, and ask their views on Americans and you get the same sort of answer from: overweight,
think they're Gods gift to the world & nowhere else could exist without them,
generally sick of involving everyone else globally in their own disputes,
your president is a wolly,
brash,
loud mouthed,
think that everyone else should bow to them when they're on holiday or visiting anywhere else,
the politics are govered by the media, not by what really matters,
& little things like Vietnam, Bay of Pigs, Iraq & Iran, Gtm Bay prison etc etc etc.
Sorry Babe, you're a yank & it's going to take a long time for the world to get back on your side.

Good question......jealousy? They say mean things because they are jealous....why else would they talk about us? I mean when was the last time you even let their country pass through your mind? I could care less that there even is another country over the ocean.....I go to work, I raise my kids, i love my wife.....if that makes me a loud mouth american well then I guess that's me.
By the way Canadians should shut your mouth and enjoy the protection we provide while you all fly under the radar....... because you are not good at anything, the world doesn't even recognize you because you have nothing to offer so stay up there and just keep your opinions to yourself, eh?

The Brits are still pissed off about all that wasted tea in the Boston harbor.
Sadly the negative opinions about America and Americans are fast becoming common worldwide. I'm proud to be an naturalized American citizen. However, Americans are gettting to be more and more unpopular.

In the first place, you do not write English very well. English is spelt with a capital E. We write awful not 'orfu'l. You must start a sentence with a capital letter, if you know what that means. I want to know, not I want to 'no'. Find the difference between there and their and use them correctly. Then, perhaps the English might start liking you.

Why do Americans think all English have bad teeth, and the English men are bad lovers?
A few bad examples give everyone else a bad name.
