I don't call myself white. I don't want to be associated with suburban mothers race traitors and bland waspishness. I am sicilian. If mexicants are called by their nationality then so will I.

Yeah but your color is not literal white. I am keeping my culture. total assimilation leads to lack of culture and then leads to race mixing and pansiness

I keep my ethnic culture and I am olive skinned so I am a sicilian. Those who do't keep their ethnic culture and do not look meditteranean ect are not sicilians after intermixture.

I am not calling myself something so bland. They don't call themselves yellows or browns. Why me? I am not calling myself that name of bland wasps and race traitors who call themselves "white"

White and Black Americans are Americans. If a White person is of the boat from Poland, I would call them "Polish", if a Black person is off the boat from France I would call them "French". I don't used the word African-American because it does not apply to all American Black people. They can be from Jamaca, Dominic Republic, France, or one of many other countries. Sicilian is a lot harder because for me I can never tell by looking at someone whether they are italian, sicilian, so I would probably call you white, until you told me differnt.

Also, white people are told that it is not polictily correct to call black people black, and we should call nationalities by thier correct term. I'm not racist and don't feel like I need to comform to what people tell me to. If some tells me they personally want to be called something, I'll call them whatever the hell they want. Don't have time for all this PC crap.

I've always thought that most "whites" are from various European countries (I admit this seems a bit narrow minded, but America is 'the melting pot') It seems silly for someone to call me a Polish, English Slovenian... or refer to my friend as a German, Polish, Irish, English... Do we add American onto that? At what point do we just say "we're American" (I'm not going to debate the whole "why do you call yourself American there are 2 American continents, but the USA is a country and we simply say America.)

who calls them yellow .... your great grand dad...
you are white they are black and who ever Else is what ever they are.. not all black folk liked to be called African American... they are just black folk in America just like you and I are white folk here in America and if you were a person not born in America then that would be why we call you by your nationality.. like so many people here from Mexico... they are Mexican and no one... not you or them should be offended by that... and if you were not born in Sicily then you are not Sicilian... silly girl..

I don't know why, but you're brought up a good point. It seems to be politically incorrect to call black people black, even though that's what they are, however they get offended and call people racist if you call them black. Yet it's ok for them to call white people white. And any other race calls themseves by their nationality.

It's very funny hearing a mixed girl say she doesn't like race mixing.

You don't call yourself white because you can't.

I can't answer that question. It's a good question but I don't have an answer. However, I would like to know what city you live in Sicily? E-mail me.
