My topic today is: "Television- a Blessing or a Curse?" and I am going to present arguments both for an against this statement, as television is quite a complex issue to discuss on.
Firstly, television is a blessing mainly for its role in providing the audience with information from all fields of human life and activity. For instance, any piece of news, of local, national or international interest, is promptly broadcast and practically almost everyone has access to television all over the globe. Besides, television also offers numerous documentaries meant to enrich the viewer's knowledge in most domains.
In addition to this, the part it plays in keeping the audience entertained turns it into a greater blessing. Probably one of the most widely-spread and used means of entertainment, television includes films, quizzes and shows that form part of home entertainment with most people.
On the other hand, television can be a real curse if we consider the addiction it creates in some viewers. It is their "legal drug" and they rely on it either for information or as a form of escapism. Moreover, viewers who spend large amounts of their time in front of a TV screen may be affected physically as well- and among the most serious consequences I would enumerate RSI (repetitive strain injury) and obesity due to sitting on a couch for hours and eating junk food.
Another negative aspect related to television is the way in which it can affect viewers from an emotional point of view. There have been numerous instances of youngsters involved in violent behaviour or even crimes based on the simple fact that the young offenders were taking violent scenes on TV as something normal.
To sum up, I would say that television can be both a blessing and a curse. It is only up to the viewer to decide what to watch and for how long, and in this case television can turn into an aid or an enemy.

First of all, you need to spell correctly. I expect that although it is a speech, you still need to turn in written work.
Is Television a Blessing or a Curse?
Really, you can't think of why it would be either??
Blessings:
Worldwide communication & information (Reputable news & weather channels)
Sharing of culture through programming (National Geographic, the travel channel & PBS)
Thought provoking programming - What is global warming?
How is AIDS affecting African nations?
Precurser to the Internet.
Curses:
Blurring of cultural lines because everyone wants to look, act & be like the people they see on TV.
Advertising bombardment
Use as a childcare replacement.
Possible cause of ADD (how can our brains learn to focus when we are only involved in 5-7 minutes blocks of time followed by 15-30 seconds of flash commercials)
Now you think of more... but for your own brain's sake, please take the time to spell it correctly.

it would be both a blessing and a curse.
Blessing- it shows us breaking news, it entertains us, it is a job to be an actor, the actors can be idols, it gives us ideas
Curse- we can get addicted to it
