Usually you will hear an audible whistle if you know what to listen for. I have seen this on several GM, Chrysler and MB vehicles. The best way to tell is to do a volume test. Fuel pressure at the rail is not the best because it doesn't measure the volume output of the pump.

If you can describe the problem you are experiencing, we might be able to give you a better diagnosis which may not be pump related.

I would replace the fuel filter! and then check the fuel psi regulator. It controls the fuel to the carb or injector. Have a fun day.

That's easy! a electric fuel pump ether works or it doesn't there is no warning of a failure it just stops
