I am out of state until Sunday. My 18 yr old is relaying my Beardie's problems to me. My Beardie who is 4 months young, has runny, pinkish color in his stools. Also, just not acting himself. His cage is aprox 90 degrees or more during the day.
The UV light has been flickering. I told my Son to get a newer fixture and speak to someone at Petsmart. Although the fixture is new.
I do feel my Son overfed him while I was gone. He used all the crickets I left. In 5 days at least 400 crickets. That is what was supposed to be in the box.
I baby him when I take care of him. He seems to know me. Does he miss me? Do Beardies actually know things like that?
Does anyone know what could be wrong with Charlie?
thank you in advance

Inseat of taking him to a vet right away...which isn't a bad idea anyway...give him extra internal hydration. His system may be overloaded with all the crickets. His kidneys might just be having a hard time processing all of that. They do eat greens and veggies, too...so if these were not added along with the crix...it's an added load on the kidneys. Watch him for a few days and see if the coloring goes away. As long as he's still active and eating and drinking...it's not an emergency. I would at least get a fecal done though to see if he might have internal parasites. A regualr dog/cat vet can do this. For more specialized care you need a herp vet which can be found in the links below...:-)

Yes...lizards definitely recognize people...and who their favorites are...and whose abused them. As for the UV light...it might not be the fixture...it could be the light. A bad UVB light will flicker, too. There are some lights better than others. If you use the flourescent tubes...the Reptisun 10.0 is the best. If you're using a mercury vapor then the T-Rex in the pet stores works well...but the Mega Ray EB is the absolute best of all the UVB sources.

Your temps need to be brought up quite a bit. Beardies need their basking area in the 100-105 range for proper digestion and internal organ function. Just a little boost and he'll be good to go...:-)

I have a two-year old beardy. . .400 crickets in 5 days is a lot for a young dragon. Sounds like he has serious diarrea. I'd get him to a vet before he become dehydrated.

I agree a vet's visit is needed!!
the unfortunate part of having exotic animals is that their instinct is to hide sickness so by the time we see signs, it is very close to too late.
Good luck
PS
I think all animals get to "like" the person that cares for them and treats them well.

Dragons are temperamental creatures, they can become sick easily. You need to get him to the vet and have an exam done on him.
Good luck.
