yes, but with good reason my mom suffered a nervous break down and i had to run the house and home school my sister as she had regular panic attacks. Thankfully they both got better but they still lean on me every now and again.

You can only feel put upon if you allow folk to get away with things . I find an easy way to stop being put upon is to end a sentence with the phrase " if its all the same " Like I don't want a lodger if its all the same ..

I felt 'put upon' by my grandmother. Suffered it for years. Used to do the shopping for her and she'd scrutinise the receipt to the last penny, and moan if I didn't get just the right item. She'd ask me to decorate, then moan that she didn't like it.
Bearing in mind she had two daughters of her own who never came near, so I felt sorry for her and put up with it. Then, one day she accused me of thieving from her - that was the straw that broke the camel's back - so I broke all ties with her. 3 years later she died and now I'm left feeling guilty for abandoning her.

I did up until 2 years ago, my friends were total emotional vampires who put the world and its worries on my shoulders, it was dragging me down big time, they never even asked me if I had anything on my mind, just assumed I was fine, so I dumped the lot of them and sorted my life out again,I realised the only person I needed was my hubby cause he has never hurt me or let me down once, now I only allow people into my life when it suits me and if people can't cope with that then tuff, this lady has had enough already.

Yes my parents are drunks and every man that I have dated or married had slept with my mom and my dad always ends up crying about it
I have to carry the burden of this and it makes me mad
