I've got a friend (once again), who, every time I tell her something serious or sad like an illness or something bad that may have happened to me that day, she laughs. She does this all the time. If I get stuck somewhere or end up in a difficult/dangerous situation, she laughs.

This is usually a nervous reaction. A lot of people laugh in these types of situations as they may not have a answer and do not know what to say.

Or they are so used to being the comedian!

Some people usually tend to deal with stressfull situations or sad ones by laughing, so as not to really deal with it seriously. I believe it is a psycological issue

It is probably a fear of feeling helpless about not being able to help you; or understand the situation you are in. Tell her that you are serious and wish she would be more sympathetic and not laugh..

my housemate does the same thing. I tumbled down the stairs and she laughed at me...
I think it's her one of her coping mechanisms..nervousness...plus she is somewhat callous...
I wouldn't want to have her as a best friend, nice she might be in other ways...!
Hold on...she doesn't laugh when i tell her serious stuff..opps...but if someone laughs when i tell them serious stuff, i will never share my heart with them again...

I guess the kind of laughter is the issue here. If she is laughing nervously, it must be she doesn't know what to say or do. But a real laugh means you are better off keeping away from her, what do you think?

It is a defense mechanism to deal with a situation that is scary and terrifying.

If, by laughing, we defuse it, we can handle it better.

Maybe its her way of coping with what you are telling her, like a safety thing, if she doesn't laugh she will cry!

Either that or you are just one of those people with a funny voice who manages to get themselves into hilarious mishaps!

You pick strange friends - if your close to this "friend" - lead them to a "shrink" .. it sounds like your friend is suffering from "nervous energy" - this needs professional help! Believe me! - this friend will have a very difficult life if she doesn't get some help.
