Some people are so starved for affection that they can mix up a psychological problem with love or attachment. We live in a lonely world, and getting lonelier by the minute. Everything - work, the physical distance between people from moving so much, hobbies like net surfing that force us to spend time alone - adds up to a bunch of people hungering for a connection. That will have more negative results than this. Attention-starved people also routinely mistake possessiveness as love, too.

Always looking in the rear-view mirror. Never knowing when they will show up at your work to make a scene. Being "let go" from a job because they won't leave you alone and they scare everyone that you work with. Even your friends and family are scared because that person won't leave them alone. They set your aunt's car on fire because you had to drop out of sight and move thousands of miles away, because now she doesn't even know were you are(for her own safety).
People really wish for this?
