It is better to be direct when requesting a specific action of someone. "Please call me by Tuesday, November 15th to discuss..." is much better than "I wonder if you could call me sometime to..."
More specific information is needed in order to answer your question more thoroughly. I do know that phrases such as "I wonder" and "I think" should be avoided if one wants to be perceived as a professinal.
Check out the website I have listed below for a few tips. (this site does try to sell you something, but it gives a lot of useful information free of charge.) You might also find your local library to be a good source of information on letter writing for the professional. There have been a lot of handbooks published that are specific to this subject. Most are short, concise, easy to read and follow. Many offer samples of common business correspondence and encourage you to use them to build upon.
Good luck. Remember that your letter is often the first impression that the customer gets of your company. A few well-worded sentences can be very powerful.

can you assist me in this matter
could you assist with this matter
Any assistance you are able to provide is appreciated
I hope these are helpful, you were not very clear as to what the context of the sentence was used. This is the best I could do with such little information. Good luck and God bless

Some good suggestions already posted but one suggestion I would make, if you are writing to a man. Never ask 'could' as they will think, yup I could, but take no action. However if you ask if they 'would' they are more likely to act upon the request.

It is best to shy away from the constant reference to you (the "I's") and concentrate on "Would you, will you, please," etc.

Focus on the recipient's needs rather than your wishes in a letter. Always be mindful of limiting the word "I" when beginning new sentences. The same goes in writing stories.

I'd appreciate it if you could?

Please can you?

Go one, be a devil!

(ok the third one is meant to be funny, but the first 2 are legitimate)

Depends on the exact context. The context might allow you to do away with the construction altogether. If not, you might try:

"Could you possibly..."
"Would it be possible for you..."
"Might you..."
"Could I impose upon you to..."
"Would you be so kind to..."
"Please [insert request here] at your earliest convenience."
"I'd appreciate it if you could..."
