My whole thumb nail has come off after an accident about a month ago - there is no nail left at all. Will it grow back? How long will it take?

Oh and yes, it did blo*dy hurt!

Don't worry it'll grow back. I think nails grow about 1/4 inch or so a month. I lost two finger nails when I was younger after I got my finger slammed in a car door. It may grow back a little mishapped, depending on what exactly happened. My friend crushed his thumb and his nail has been mishapped since, but he still has the nail.

Yes, it will grow back, but will take some time, and will look ugly while it is growing...be careful to protect the thumb.

It will in time. Just try not to bang your thumb, because apart from hurting, it may cause deformities to the new soft nail.

I don't see why it shouldn't. To speed up the growth, take plenty of calcium in your diet and vitamin C promotes good healing as well/ Sounds very sore indeed.
