my back lights on my car arent working?

the break lights work but the normal lights just dont come on when you turn the switch on along with the dash lights ive checked all the bulbs and the fuses so am i correct to assume that its probably the light switch itself? and the front lights work just fine

You did not indicate what kind of car you have. The first thing you should do is get a test light and see if you have power at the light socket.
If its an American car its not the the fuse if you have front lights.
If its an older car you may have a bad ground . Its possible to put the bulb in wrong or put the wrong bulb in.

might be the switch but more likely a short in the hot wire to both sides for the back running lights.
