In most operating systems using shift+del will delete the files not moving to trash or recyble bin.
what files are you trying to delete? Generally some system files can't be deleted. if in case of a corrupted file system better to use shell command.
What is the operating system you are using.
if you are deleting the files just by moving to recycle bin or trash, try to delete permanently.

Defragmentation does not remove any files at all,, it is a process of rearrangement of your part files to be near each other to make your computer more faster,,,when you remove your files to recycle pin and then you empty it,, you actually hide the name of the deleted file and give a permission to your computer to write on the sector which is occupied by this file,,and it will not actually deleted except if your computer write another file on this sector,, so,, To delete it actually and completely you will need another program which write a another file on this sector and you have to use this program in deleting your file,,you may get one free from here

By defragmenting none of the files are deleted. Files get fragmented(bits & pieces) and get scattered in the FDD. defragmenting gets them together so its easier for the system to search them & retrieve them. To delete files permanently you need to either delete them yourself(shift+delete) or uninstall them if they belong to any program.

Defrag doesn't delete. You need to find the files you want to delete and click on it and hit delete. If it's software go to your control panel>add/remove software and delete or uninstall from there.

Agree wid 2008(2d answer) in spite of the indisputable fact that as far as i'm worried comprehend-how healing softwares do not seem that wonderful till it really is a real one. Coz I have used 3 comprehend-how restore softwares till eventually date and none of them has recovered any of my archives that were truly established.
