nice one to Carrie847.
Come to think about it it's usually the chav like, under educated people who get pregnant at a young ages. I have another Q. Why do people that can't even afford to have one child always end up with like 5 or more when they know they can't really provide for them???

There is a mixture of thing that cause young woman to get pregnant. Some maybe the way they were raised or the friends they hang out with. It could be lack of knowledge/education.
They may have to much freedom from the parents or have working parents that are not home much and they are trying to find ways to fill the void. It could be they believe they will be able to keep the young man they are with by getting pregnant. Our way of life makes things like this way to easy to happen. Most of the time these young woman don't do this on purpose they just don't think about what the outcome will bring. It's so sad to see so many teen pregnancies these days.. Parents really need to get involved more and take the time to sit done and talk to these young woman and men and let them know how hard it is to make it as a single parent with no education.

as a 17 year old girl with many young mother friends i can tell you a few reasons:

Their excited
scared
nervous
bewildered
timid
in "love"

and so many other feeling that cloud your head the first time you have sex we your married you know those feelings if your not then you will. And im sure you didnt mean this but not all girls between the ages of 15 and 17 (which is a much better logic) and getting pregnant. i a non virgin myself are not pregnant and dont plan to be for a while. But you also need to know things happen condom breaks, birth control isnt taken, shes forced into doing it. these reasons and many more.

You say way cant we wait, why are we so in a hurry to do something so permanent, and the truth is im not sure, but what i do know is theres not going to be much stopping it.

Oh and that whole throwing their lives away is blow out of porportion their are many young women who have had kids and are not CEO's, Cops, Lawyers, Doctors, and many other wonderful jobs out their and how can i life be thrown away with a baby in their lives. Sure it slows it down a bit but its never thrown away.

WAY TO GO CATZNOLAN !!!!
Some because, "they just want someone to love and love them back".
Others because, "oops, the condom broke or I didn't know antibiotics null and void my birth control pills", (btw, a lot of adult women don't know this either).
And then there are those girls who grew up playing with dolls, making believe they are mommy (the best job in the world as they are told) and making that their one goal in life. I was brought up that way, and NO I was not a teen mom. If it wasn't for my faulty plumbing though, I would have been a mom by 17 or so I'm sure.
We tend to forget that when we are telling our daughters, nieces and so on, what a wonderful life we have being a mom and working a full time job, keeping up the house, and so on, we leave out all the hard work, endless days, and stress. Which by the way, I am a mom of teenager and HE has condoms incase he was ever to have sex. NO, I don't promote teen sex and never will, but I do want him to know that if he is going to make a different choice than our wishes, he had better protect himeself and the girl he is with.
BTW, the condoms have expiration dates on them and should be thrown out and replaced when near that date.

I don't think it's lack of education or anything like that. I think it's more that they don't think about the consequenses of what they are doing and/or just don't care until they end up pregnant or a daddy. Maybe they think oh if I do it just this once I won't get pregnant...I'm not THAT girl or guy. I didn't even have sex until I was 19 so I really don't get what the fascination is for kids to think they are acting like grown ups. I'm not saying sex is such a sacred thing in this day and age, but jeez, I wish they would ACT like adults and take responsibility and think about what they are doing and how risky it is.

Bottom line, if you have unprotected sex you can likely get pregnant!

They get pregnant out of ignorance, not realizing the consequences of their actions. Also, if they see it in their community, it becomes more acceptable, so it tends to have a domino effect. There are some schools were the majority of high schoolers are pregnant or have been pregnant, or end up dropping out to have a baby. Some girls do it to have 'someone to love' if their family life is poor. Finally, and this is most pathetic, they do it because it's a status thing, having a certain boy's baby. Having a baby has become a casual thing in some communities and has lost the significance it should have.

maybe because their own parents were young mums n that, or becasue they feel that going to school isn doing anything for them if they are naturally arguentative,
some are just stupid and get drunk then pregnant, and some feel that they are offically "grown up" for losing their virginity.
and maybe for the rest, if they had a bad childhood they just want someone to love the way they wanted to receive love in the first place
i think they should stay being teenagers because for the majority of them, they are not mature enough to handle the responsibility of motherhood and its the baby who suffers in the long run.
saying that, i was 17 when i got pregnant but i think i have done well as a young mum, and that has reflected in my babies personality. he always smiles and laughs and i am thankful for every day i have spent with him. i couldnt imagine my life without him now.

There isn't just one answer for this, everyone is different. One girls reasons are completely different to anothers. Some make honest mistakes and some deliberately get pregnant. Some are good mothers, some are not. If you don't know the girl then you will never know why she got pregnant or if she is a good mother or not.

Well, Amanda E’s answer is a prime example of what I was going to say - They don’t have a very good education and therefore feel the only thing to do in life is breed!! Learn how to spell woman, there is no such word as “Yourselfs” or “Mouthin” or “den” and what they hell does “Ye” mean? Lets hope your child’s school teaches her to spell cause with a mother like you she doesn’t have a hope in hell and will probably end up being as poorly educated as you have come across!!

Its a mix of trying to get attention and stupid guys. I know I am a guy but thats what I think. My friend got his 15 year old girlfriend pregnant when he was 17. My wife was 17 at conception of our first. Ya, back then we were stupid. It changed our lives irrevocably for the best. I think its the extra head that thinks too much every guy has. That and milk hormones...look it up, makes girls mature faster.
