You can request to be referred to a radiographer for an ecocardiogram (ECG) from your GP. It's the same as an ultrasound, only on your heart.

It usually costs around US$150 and will be the best and most accurate way of detemining the size of your heart.

This is the role of diagnostic imaging. Remember that if you measure the size of your heart on a PA Xray, it will be magnified. Measurement of the size by ultrasound or ECG may be more accurate.
