DON'T TELL ME IF IT'S RIGHT OR WRONG, THAT IS NOT MY QUESTION! I WOULDN'T DO IT ANYWAY!

I am just curious if, legally speaking, you can get your infant tattooed... because it seems to me that if you can get your babies ears pierced, or get him circumcised, why not tattooed? And yet, it seems so wrong... so it makes me really wonder if it would be legal to do so.

If piercing is not child abuse, what is?

If circumcision isn't, what is?

I don't need answers to those questions, I want to illustrate my point that I'm not looking for the moral aspect of this, because it's obvious. I read another answer for the same question and all people said was "Why would you want to do that? That's sick!" "No, you shouldn't!" and the like. THAT'S NOT WHAT I WANT TO KNOW.

IS IT LEGAL?

cut50, you have by far the most entertaining answer LMAO

okay people i don't even have a kid... and hopefully that won't change any time soon. if you really want to know, i was watching the movie "willow" (if you haven't seen it you may not know what i'm talking about) and it made me wonder if someone could get that little arm marking thing on their kid...

and for the record, i hope it is child abuse. i'd certainly consider it to be.

I think it is illegal. It is only legal if the person being tattoed is over 16 or 18 i cant remember but certainly not a baby. This may also depend on which culture. For indians or mauris (don't quote me) this may be a normal thing.

this is a kinda odd question, circumcision is a procedure that helps with cleanliness, so that's why its done, and ear piercing is usually not abuse either cause then everyone that has a piercing would be a self mutilator which is obviously not the case, I'm pretty sure that anyone under 18 needs to get a parental "note" to get a tat, so since u are the parents and if u bring ur child to the artist its up to them if they would do it or not, but i should say how would u know what tattoo to get for them? Tattoos are supposed to be personal, and by u as the parent getting it for the child u take the personalization out of the equation

Actually the best time for a tattoo is right after he is circumcised while he is still tied down to the board and probably passed out from the pain. That way nobody has to put up with any extra crying or screaming.

The best pattern to use is a big red heart containing the word MOM boldly inked across his chest. This is the best because he is sure to want this displayed on his chest for the rest of his life. Just like he is sure to be happy for all his life that you had him circumcised.

And besides it will save him a whole lot of pain doing it now rather than if he was to decide to have it done later.

The benifits are many, just like circumcision a good tattoo will ward off many evil spirits.

Now just in time for election day; you can vote for your baby too just fill out the form and his vote will be automaticlly entered for the party you chose for him for the rest of his life. Of course his vote will not be effective untill his 18th birthday, but it will save him the trouble of making up his own mind, and you know how boys are about that.

Unfortuately these rules only apply to boys, you can't make life long decisions for girls in this country.

I probably could...But, I wouldn't...That answers the question the way you phrased it....However, circumcision, firstly is not in the same equasion..It is now done for medical reasons primarily..However some religions still practice it for both reasons...

As to piercing's..They have no medical benifet's and should be left till the child can make their own decision, that goes for tatoo's as well. Consider all the people that have had them done and then only to have them removed or repaired later in life...Your personal synopsis is correct in my mind...with regards to the morals in this..

Personal markings are just that...personal...and not for the enjoyment/ego of the parent...and they are somewhat limited by the medical profession in most western countries..

That's my two cents worth....Yukoneze

I'm pretty sure that it would be considered child abuse, which is illegal. Fortunately, that kind of story hasn't hit the news yet.

Circumcision is a medically indicated procedure which prevents years and years of misery. Boys who have to deal with cleaning under the foreskin all their lives can tell you all about that. It gets infected repeatedly. Most of the things that God told his people to do had very practical reasons.

I don't like to see babies with pierced ears, either, but I guess that's not illegal. It's only a moment of pain, like a circumcision.

But a tattoo takes quite a long time, and that would be abuse, in my opinion... and I would think the judge and jury might think so, too.

Doesn't the baby have a right of choice ? Tattoos are not 4 kids ... they are 4 people on college and stuff.

you got a point, until she/he doesn't reach 18 y/o then you can do anything to your child. but i hope you are open-minded as well with my suggestion, in case you really want your child to be tattoed, would you mind waiting until he/she can decide by him/herself? this is something permanent and we all know not all people ar as open-minded like most of us here, most esp. work-wise. ear-piercing and circumcision, well, already accepted culturally.

You've made it very clear that you don't want an opinion, so I won't give one.

But unless a lawyer happens along in here, I'm not sure that you'll get the answer you're looking for.
