Joyce Kilmer. 1886–1918

Trees

I THINK that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

This poem used to be popular in speech courses etc. to teach people recitation skills.

Accurately, the line goes:

"I think that I shall never see, a poem as lovely as a tree..."
The poem 'Trees' - for which he is chiefly remembered ' was written by a gentleman, the US poet and critic Alfred Joyce Kilmer. Born in 1886, Joyce Kilmer died during the first World War, sadly just as his work was becoming recognised for its worth.

Here you go:

“I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.”

Cate etc provide the full answer. The poem was turned into a popular song, I think in the 1920's, and still commonly sung well into the 40's and 50's

Is that the magazine that would not have any articles approximately a thank you to get a guy or a thank you to get a female or a thank you to have intercourse with a guy or a female as quickly as you have have been given them? God, what a waste. do no longer throw it away; use the pages as rest room paper. once you are going to allow an atypical guy sparkling up after the mess the paperboy and mom Nature created on your backyard, it relatively is basically honest which you permit him watch you bathe. some people do no longer actually have a backyard!

I don't think in my life I'll ever see,

Anything as beautiful as a tree.

It's slender branches spread in pray to Thee,

Bearing the nests of the cutest birds one can see.

The twittering and chirping of the birds all day long,

Seems to me like a never ending song...

Providing shelter to the mankind,

A tree is the kindest thing one can find.

I solemnly wish that I was a tree,

Having a life so calm and free.

it's THE TREE.

" i think that i shall never see, a poem lovely as a tree. a tree whose hungry mouth is fed, upon the earth's sweet flowing breast."

just an excerpt from that poem, but can't remember the author either. it was from my elementary days.

yes u have dreamt this.
i will continue..............
i wonder if i'll ever see a family tree as beautiful as a tree laden with fruits and flowers, with lots of branches joined with togetherness and love.
the winds that breeze from that tree spread thier love and calmness,
the fruits that tree gives will be as sweet as thier words,
the flowers that tree showers will be like blessings from heaven,
the dew that falls on the tree is so soft that it clears the hardness in all lives,
the roots so strong that it shows the strength of the family tree....................................................
